These group cards will help your guided reading group share the roles associated with reciprocal teaching. The cards are an aid to model the four basic strategies for understandning any text. Each card can be laminated and used as a book mark or to section the page if one paragraph is being used at a time.
Cards include: The Boss The Predictor The Questioner The Clarifier The Summariser
The cards act as a reminder to each group member of their role and help formualate responses for the discussion.
Once modelled by the teacher the children will be trained to work within their group unassisted.

The object of the game is move around the game board earning Reward Smilies by reading the letters they land on or following the instructions in the game squares. Remember to encourage all the players to clap or say ‘well done’ when every child has a successful or unsuccessful attempt
Always ask the players to sound the letter and make the correct mouth formation and then think of a word that starts with the letter (you could offer several more words too!)
Print loads of Smilies for lots of rewards and encouragement
This display will act as a reminder to all children about their seating and hand positions for good handwriting.
There are a series of questions that children can answer themselves when preparing to write neatly or in handwriting lessons
Three pages show sample handwriting patterns for the children to
loosen their wrists and fingers and help them to find a comfortable
position for their books or paper
Ask children to write the date and the title, followed by 2
handwriting patterns. Then, teach the lesson and ask the children to
finish their work with another two handwriting patterns
Use this worksheet for your weekly spellings and encourage children to use the Look, Say, Cover, Write, Check method.
The worksheet allows all children to practice their spellings regardless of whether they have help from home.
The worksheet reminds children which spelling pattern they have
learned about in class. There is space for 5 high frequency words, 5
spelling focus words and 5 challenge words.
The document is fully editable so you can use the phrases that best
suit you. Add the group name and a title for the spelling pattern being
learned. Maybe change the 'High Frequency Words' to 'Common Words' etc.
There is a .pdf version too which can be printed and used.
