These group cards will help your guided reading group share the roles associated with reciprocal teaching. The cards are an aid to model the four basic strategies for understandning any text. Each card can be laminated and used as a book mark or to section the page if one paragraph is being used at a time.
Cards include: The Boss The Predictor The Questioner The Clarifier The Summariser
The cards act as a reminder to each group member of their role and help formualate responses for the discussion.

The object of the game is move around the game board earning Reward Smilies by reading the letters they land on or following the instructions in the game squares. Remember to encourage all the players to clap or say ‘well done’ when every child has a successful or unsuccessful attempt
Always ask the players to sound the letter and make the correct mouth formation and then think of a word that starts with the letter (you could offer several more words too!)
Print loads of Smilies for lots of rewards and encouragement

Black Hat for Judgement White Hat for Information Blue Hat for Thinking Green Hat for Creativity & New Ideas Red Hat for Feelings Yellow Hat for Strengths
SHEEP - the acronym for the Every Child Matters 5 Outcomes
I used these sheets to play games to develop citizenship skills,
work with the school council and set school and class targets. There
are a range of sheets here that could be used in a variety of ways so
experiment.
Cut these up and put them on a separate piece of paper and ask the
children to think of how the school meets each of the 5 outcomes. There
is a yellow SHEEP with a bin (on page 2) to add comments regarding
things that happen at the school which may not be positive
